Serviced Apartments vs Hotels

So, what is it to be? Booking into a hotel, or an apartment or house for a short term let during your stay in London?

The choice largely hinges on type of experience you want during your stay – and how much space you want to enjoy. Do you want to “live” in the capital for a short time?

A “home” not an impersonal room

When travelling to London (or any other capital city) for business or pleasure, you may want to soak up all the stimulation and fascination of a lively, cosmopolitan city. Your days and nights can be packed with new sights, sounds and experiences.

However, there is a good chance you won’t want hustle and bustle around the clock.

After an exhausting day sightseeing in London or attending meetings, some peace and quiet could well be just what’s needed.  This is not always possible in a hotel. Staying in even the most illustrious ones, brings a certain degree of being “surrounded” by other people.

Alternatively, if you select a well-positioned serviced apartment or mews house in London, you are in the heart of things while still enjoying valuable “me time” in comfort and quiet.

 Meal time magic

London hotels have great restaurants and you can of course order room service to dine alone.

However, in serviced apartments and mews houses, you can have the pleasure of preparing your own meal, to your exact preferences and timetable.  Or curl up with a takeaway of your choice. You can eat in lovely surroundings, undisturbed by other diners.

(By the way, Merino Hospitality can stock your stunning accommodation with groceries and even provides a private chef if you want to really live well during your stay in London.)

 Family comfort and care

Hotels can be particularly bewildering places for little ones if you take your family with you on holiday or a business trip to London. Plus, you are tied to some degree to the scheduling or the hotel, and you will be relying on the services of strangers. Also in hotels, privacy can be an issue or you could need multiple rooms depending on the age and gender of your kids.

Imagine instead, having your family stay in London in a highly personalised and self-contained apartment or mews house. Everything you need for an enjoyable stay is provided, but your family can enjoy quality time together with no “intrusion” from staff or other guests.

A chance to recharge your batteries and “reboot”

Just as at home we like to shut our front door and enjoy our own space, serviced accommodation carries with it a high degree of privacy and discretion. Forget “Do Not Disturb” signs, this would be your own, self-contained stunningly beautiful space. You can come and go as you please, and arrange weekly cleaning services to suit your own lifestyle and schedule (if you stay in a Merino apartment for longer than seven days)>
